STUDIO
Founded in 2017, FRAGMENT architecture is a design firm with two office locations in Oak Brook and Willowbrook, Illinois. It is committed to delivering architecture of high sensitivity to spatial experience with attention to profound integrity with context. It delivers designs that embody the interdisciplinary quality of architecture to bring the users a subtle, yet profound experience of space and functionality.
METHODOLOGY
Our firms` name ‘FRAGMENT architecture” was inspired by the writings of Dalibor Vesley, an architectural historian and theorist, whose perception of architectural work is phenomenology-based capitalizing on the collective power of architectural programmatic elements as a whole, not as autonomous fragments. The restorative, positive role of architecture, as we believe at FA, is thus to unify the embracing settings of context, the program, and the spatial experience of its users. FRAGMENT architecture is mainly driven by research as it always strives to find the inspiration from the context of any given project to complete as well as mediate the existing settings of site, and thus act as positive fragment in the process of architectural compositions. Such profound connection to the embracing context is where we believe sustainability intercepts with our design methodology. Suitability by design not as an imposed requirement is what architecture should strive for. The firm`s studio, lead by Enis Aldallal, AIA, considers that architects have a critical mission of blurring the boundaries between the project`s site and its milieu. The Zeitgeist of place is the core concept of our projects to bring the building its rooted existence. This sensitivity is supported with a holistic design approach that gives all site`s components equal significance, stronger ties, and more sustainability within their existing environment.
SERVICES
FRAGMENT architecture provides complete line of full design services for architecture, interior architecture and planning for various building typologies. From conception to construction administration, FRAGMENT architecture services cover new construction, addition, adaptive reuse, and renovation projects. FA also provides landscape design services believing that architecture and landscape architecture cannot be separately designed and constructed individually.

Before establishing FRAGMENT architecture, Enis has lead various types of projects ranging from small scale to large scale projects with Chicago-based firms such as CannonDesign/Chicago, SOM/Chicago, and SMNG-A/Chicago.
Enis`s burgeoning philosophies in architectural design have elucidated in his published book in Europe and the Americas titled as Site and Composition: Design Strategies in Architecture and Urbanism in 2016. Enis continues pushing the boundaries of his interest in urban interventions and uniquely implementing his design approach on each design assignment.
